Ten years ago, Linux looked very different than it does now. Ubuntu was still using Gnome 2, KDE 4 was relatively new, systemd was not a thing in any major linux distribution, and the Linux kernel was much, much smaller.
Now many things have changed, but all major Linux-type software seem to be pretty content with where they are currently. Gnome 4 is going to be very similar to Gnome 3, and the same is true for Plasma 6 and Plasma 5. Is there really anything exciting going on in the Linux world anymore? Will Ubuntu 30.04 compared to 20.04 be as unrecognizable as 20.04 is compared to 10.04? From the current pace of things it seems that nothing will change all that significantly. Prove me wrong if you can.
