Deontology is difficult to apply in real life when it comes to a complex ethical dilemma, for instance let look at Free Software Foundation's argument on users computational freedom. They argue that users should be the one who is controlling the computation in their computers. Developers should share their recipes so that user can analyze the code. So that he can make sure that it does what it advertises to do. But in a practical word, selling Free (opensource) software is not possible if you are going to pay for your bills. In FSF's view, software those who does not respect user freedom are malicious and the developers' of these software are oppressors.let's say I agree with their ideology of computer users computational freedom sadly very few people are gonna support financially to these free/opensource projects. Hence, you can't make personal software for average users based on this moral ethical philosophy.
