Google Playbooks is the best e-reader app for Linux, change my mind?

In a long quest to find a suitable e-reader app I've tried them all, even some of the more obscure and new in a quest that also led me to tinkering with wine for Windows only apps like Kobo and Kindle.

My basic want was an app that would manage my ebooks, and allow me to read them on a Linux flipbook's desktop in 2-page split with the ability to close the netbook and allow me to resume reading on another device such as my phone.

There's quite a few apps in the standalone Linux-only stakes that all seem to do one thing really well, manage or read.

The best standalone e-reader found was Lector, and the best manager of course was Calibre, but none allowed resuming reading cross-platform.

So you might ask, you've already found a compromise, what's the problem?

Well I really want to have my mind changed or be pointed in the direction of a Google alternative that I've maybe missed...
