My Android phone was stolen and I was made to hand it over unlocked. I went to the nearest PC to wipe it through the Find My Device page. I had to sign in to my Gmail. I have my password but it wants 2FA. My only options are to receive a choice of three different notifications on my phone with the code, or wait 3-5 business days. By that point the thieves will have gone through everything on my phone, then I'm sure reset it and sold it on.
For future proofing, how can I set up my Gmail account so that I can still get access to it without having to go through my phone 2FA / be on my own laptop where my Gmail is already logged in?
Looking at my Google account the only viable option is a backup code. There isn't a way to have a second email address as the 2FA?
