Shutdown staircase output fix

For eons, I've seen a staircase pattern to my log output when shutting down the machine. After a bunch of investigation of existing discussion, I have a fix for my machine. I launch i3 via .xinitrc (specifically, exec i3 at the bottom of the file).

Just prior to that line - "stty -F /dev/tty1 opost onlcr" has done the trick.

Apparently those flags are getting unset by something deep in the system, at some point, but setting them again there manages to stick. Let me know how your systems react - this is something that's been bugging me for years...
