At most of the schools I studied to, Students are not allowed to use Linux or other types of open-source, non proprietary software, especially in informatics classes. Even when the alternative software was nearly identical, superior and had the same function than the proprietary one or more.
One teacher tried to convince me it was to avoid spyware but I know that open-source software is safer on that side because we all can see how the code works, compared to proprietary software. The irony is that most of the software they use are known for their hidden spyware.
The Microsoft Lobbying on the schools and scholar commission is so intense that we only use their software in schools. For video calls they enforce the use of Microsoft teams, for text writing Microsoft words, etc... to the point where it shouldn't be called a school but a Microsoft client formation center.
