A vulnerability was found in Apple iOS up to 5.1.1 (Smartphone Operating System). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the component ImageIO. Upgrading to version 6.0 eliminates this vulnerability. The problem might be mitigated by replacing the product with Google Android as an alternative. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 12462.
