I switched from Windows 8.1 to Pop Os recently on my 8 year old laptop and I love it. Performance is much better than it was with windows. Everyday use is much snappier. Its a pretty slow system (3rd gen i3, intel integrated graphics, 4gb ram, 1tb hdd) but it handles most tasks just fine. I have had no compatibility issues, wifi, trackpad, sound all are working fine. I am really satisfied with my decision. As a long term windows user I am seriously considering to switch to Linux on my daily driver (Ryzen 2300u, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd). Infact I might even install Linux the next time I build a pc. I have fallen in love with it.
