Bash as an interactive shell has proven over and over to be very useful. I for one use it all the time.
Bash as a shell programming language have issues with its arcane syntax, weird interpolation and mysterious data structures. I tend to spend far to long to get simple things done with any confidence.
Is it possible to move and as standard use some highlevel language for scripting the OS?
I have been giving it some thought lately, and hammered one possible alternativ Slash, now in preview. I would think that some requirements for an alternative is that it * Readily available * Small footprint (Maximum a couple of megabytes compiled) * Fast * Easy learning curve.
Interesting to hear if there are some opinions on this matter in the community.
