Hello all!
A friend was transferring some (insignificant) files to an external HDD when he jerked the cable and now the Windows PC will not recognize the drive. The thing is that in that drive there were important videos of a deceased person that we really need to retrieve.
I am a linux guy but I have never done data recovery before on it and have found like a billion programs that should work. I am asking for recommendations for the best (or most reliable really, the one which would do the least amount of damage) one. I do not care if it is a CLI or GUI program.
P.S. If i dd the whole hdd to an image, will I be able to dd the image again to the drive and retry in case something goes wrong?
Thank you all in advance!
