📚 Kicking google to the curb. Suggestions on new programs to replace gmail and google drive

I want a secure email and am sick of all google's adds and invasion of privacy. I'm using firefox with ad blockers and customized to protect my privacy. Also using duck duck go for searching. I am wondering the best replacement for gmail. I don't have a lot of mail. I am seeing mailfence and protonmail come up highly recommended. Any thoughts on what mail to use?
