📚 Dependency failed for local file system, failed to load modem manger

hello i am a new user to linux and i was just using my machine as normal and i believe i tried to do an update thru the add/remove software program. and it froze my computer, crashed, restarted, and gave me the error "Dependency failed for local file system" then it sends me to "failed to load modem manger"

so far the few commands i've been able to try lead me nowhere. either i get told permissions denied or, that nothing exists.

again i am fairly new to this system
