I think a lot of apps could benefit from a fresh start. They could use newer libraries, better programming languages, 0 backwards compatibility... Like Neovim did to Vim. What do you think?
I'll start with two I think are worth it:
Emacs: Make it already a TUI desktop environment. Or at least improve elisp and terminal display, give it multithreading capabilities and (pls don't kill me) better default shortcuts.
LibreOffice: I think it's written in Java. Idk, however I remember someone said it weights two times ms Word. They should also work on a fresh modern look.
