The time I used the web to find a way to customize Linux

I have been looking for a way to remove the titlebar in some applications. Some integrate the titlebar into the menubar. I wanted to show "how" I found a solution, obviously this won't work for everyone, ie: those using tiling window managers. When searching for howto do this, the amount of negativity or bad info in some of the top search results, it's sad. I can't just "fix" search engine results, nor do I know where to put this info so it's visible for this specific use case.

I'm no image editing pro. Wanted to make one change to an image. Found Gimp & Krita. After using both, the documentation didn't show a way to remove their titlebars.

I started searching for how to remove the titlebar from Krita. Then Gimp. The is the sad part of the story as most seem hopeless and told to remain that way.

Next thought of applications that did this. I could only think of video games, going into fullscreen borderless mode. It's been done before. It's possible. Continued on.

Then searched for how to remove the titlebar from Gimp in my DE (gnome). and near the top result was this: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/-/issues/7172

It's an interesting conversation. But the key is the vocabulary used by the developers. "client", "decorations". The very next search was (remove window decorations gnome): https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1208/undecorate/

That extension does the trick for those two applications in gnome. Will it always work, will it work for other applications? Unsure and that wasn't what I needed. I needed a way to remove it for these two applications at present time.

There's a reason I didn't just point to that extension and title this post as "how to remove title bars" for reasons mentioned in the previous paragraph, plus not everyone uses the same DE.

I don't know how to fix search engine results for others behind me. I for sure don't know how to better search engine results for those who aren't native English speakers as I imagine that adds another layer of complexity to the problem. Hope this helps someone.
