TL;DR - the below is background to why I'm asking. You can just skip it; it's not important.
This question was prompted by a discussion I got involved in on r/FindMeADistro. Somebody coming off Windows had some interesting prejudices about support and security from corporate-backed distros vs community distros (along with a poor understanding of the difference between the two). So I tried to disabuse them of some of their misunderstandings while pointing them roughly at what they were looking for: better security out of the box, and not Gnome DE because I die inside every time a new user is put off by how different it is from the Windows paradigm.
Their response was, So you think I should use Oracle Linux, then?
My instinct was to respond, Of course not, that would be silly. And then I looked into it. It's based on RHEL, so it'll probably have a preconfigured firewall and SE Linux, just like I suggested. And according to wikipedia it offers KDE as a choice at install, which RHEL ceased doing with version 8 and needs you to dig into the website for alternative .isos for Rocky or Alma. Which makes me wonder where my own prejudice against Oracle sprung from, because on the face of it I probably was recommending it.
So are there Oracle home desktop users? Do you guys have an active community forum?
