I gave it a shot. I really did. I made it about a month.

I've been using Linux in some form or another since I was introduced to Slackware in the late 90s. My field laptops both run Linux - Xubuntu and Kubuntu. I got tired of the crap that Microsoft calls Windows 11 and decided to try converting my gaming laptop to Linux. I had 2 requirements -

1) Had to run Windows games via Wine (Pingus is great but not that great).

2) Absolutely had to be able to play Red Dead Redemption 2 (I know - it barely runs on Windows...)

I was unable to get the Epic Store version of rdr2 to work. I had better luck with the Steam version, which I obviously bought right before it went on sale. However, shortly after I entered Chapter 2, it began crashing repeatedly - and all of the tips on that are Windows specific. I finally got tired of trying.

I was able to get Sid Meiers Pirates to run fine. I got a couple of other games to work. I just could not, for the life of me, get RDR2 to run worth a crap - at least a functional crap like on Windows.

Sorry Linux - your gaming days are still in the future. I've already wiped and reinstalled Win10. I'll stick with that for a couple more years.
