๐ file (large) transfers / text share service question

I need something to send files to another system (LAN or WAN) and also text snippets. I know about a few of them but they seem a bit rough for my usage.
RetroShare seems good but way too overkill for my needs. I haven't tried it out myself but is it any good?
Onionshare seemed another good option but downloading large files via tor can be an issue plus they only offer snap/flatpak packages for linux which I do not wish to use.
Syncthing also doesn't work for me as it would be a pain to start syncthing service on every device I need to share files between, ad then wait for the devices to see folder changes and sync.
Out of these 3 only retroshare seems somewhat my tool but again its way too overkill with way too many bells and whistles I will never use. I want something a bit on the light side like onionshare with good share speeds via WAN and most of all good security. Any tool I haven't heard about? Or alternatively if have used retroshare, will it work for my needs?
