Apple Could Delay iPhone 8 Launch

The iPhone 8 was expected to launch in September with a bunch of new features, including a fingerprint reader embedded into the display, but according to an analyst, Apple is very likely to delay the launch because the technology is not ready just yet.

A report from AI and citing Cowen and Company's analyst Timothy Arcuri reveals that Apple is yet to decide on how exactly it wants the new fingerprint sensor to work, with 3 different approaches currently being considered.

The new fingerprint sensor will almost certainly be embedded into the display, but Apple can’t decide if the cover glass should be thinner in the sensor area, a small pinhole should be created in the glass for an optical or ultrasonic sensor, or a film sensor should be directly integrated into the display.
