I recently got back into Linux after a 7 year rendezvous with Mac. I got a Dell XPS 15 9570 and installed several distros on it, all with the same issue. When I close my laptop and plug in my two desktop monitors, the second monitor doesn't work correctly. In both Gnome and KDE, the display settings recognize the second monitor make but doesn't provide correct resolutions. When I enable it, the monitor is black. I can move my mouse into it and move around the monitor, but the display is black.
I've tried swapping HDMI cord, monitor order, etc. Definitely seems like the graphics driver is the issue.
I have an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti GPU and my distros were using the latest proprietary drivers (525 and 530). Is there anything I can do or do I pray to the proprietary graphics driver gods to bless me with a bug fix in the next release? Bug report perhaps?
