Sorry if this question gets asked every day.
My background is in data analytics. I'm a SAS programmer and have been rewriting SAS logic for an application upgrade at my current job. SAS is on a Linux server and I'm at the point now where I need to understand the legacy scripts and edit them so they will work with the updated SAS programs. What's the best resources? Right now I'm playing with Linux in VirtualBox and trying to "read" the legacy scripts, but this stuff was written over 20 years ago and the admins that wrote them are long gone. Most of it looks like gibberish to me.
TLDR: I need to understand some really old CRONs and shell scripts to find out what parts of them are relevant to our upgraded applications today.
