Donate and show gratitude for Linux Desktops (but don't Donate to Linux Foundation)

I switched to Linux as my daily driver in 2002. In those days, one often had to do some work to get printers and wifi to work smoothly. Since 2012 and continuing to the present, Linux has gotten so much easier to install and use. I recently started an admin assistant with no linux experience and gave her a computer that I had configured with MINT and Libreoffice on day one. She had no trouble becoming productive. I told her "just pretend it's windows and call me if you get stuck. I got maybe two calls." I am particularly appreciative of the Debian base and the MINT and Ubuntu projects atop that base. I recently read that the best thing you can do it to directly fund your favorite distro or desktop environment. I would have thought that funding the Linux Foundation would be similarly useful, until I learned that the LF spends almost none of its money on actually improving Linux.
