Still unusable?

Are you kidding me? There has been two hours for me to setup a network share with a windows machine from ubuntu and every single step of the way i've faced issues. At the moment i just got frustrated, chmod is showing rw only for root, i have created and added current user to a group to attach it to the folder, rebooted the machine and here we are.

Really a network share? In 2023, i have to read all these forums and beat the Dolphin browser to a pulp just to be able to write information on a windows network share? I mean did we go backwards? I remember installing smb and nautilus would take care of the rest, now there's these CIFS utilities, and the most basic stuff has to be spoonfed to the OS. As a cherry on top, i reboot the machine since this smbd apparently doesn't exist in ubuntu, and after that the mounted share is gone and i'm back to square one having to mount the share all over again... damn... my calendar really states 2023...
