long time linux/unix programmer looking for a new laptop.

I'm looking for a new linux laptop.

I have a Thinkpad T450s that I am quite happy with, but it is getting old and is going to be relegated to a test/server laptop for some projects I am working on.

When I purchased it, I bought it with the minimum RAM and a small spinning hard drive and upgraded both myself.

It was significantly cheaper to do it that way at the time.

It doesn't appear that they offer many laptops with user-upgradeable ram.

Anyway, I really like the keyboard on the T450s and would like a similar keyboard.

I want to keep a 14" screen. I don't need super lightweight as it seldom leaves the house, but does move around in the house.

I will probably max on the ram and I run docker on my laptop and have a few test environments.

I would like the ability to easily add an external monitor. (which I also need to purchase).

I have been running Ubuntu since 2012 and plan on sticking with that (currently running 20.04, will install 22.04 on new laptop).

Money, as always, is a limiting factor: I can't splurge like I used.

I am thinking another Lenovo Thinkpad. But not sure about AMD or Intel.

I have looked at the System76 and Framework. I like the concept of the framework "lego" model, but I am not sure about longevity of the company.
