Hello redditors! Let me first send my best wishes for a happy new year. The rationale behind this post is to understand in better detail how the updating process of the Linux package manager works. To be more specific, I am interested in understanding what is the role of "pacman" - as I use it on my PineTab2 - compared to the GUI "Discover" app updater.
Afaik, to update from the terminal, one needs to send the command "sudo pacman -Syu". Now, even after doing that I will still have apps left to be updated in the Discover app. So, why doesn't the terminal update also impact the GUI app? Can anyone help me understanding this specific point?
