It's been a few months since the controversial news that is IBM/RedHat putting restrictions hindering others and losing faith of many. There were many threats of leaving EL all together and companies moving to Debian, or a Debian based distro. I wonder now, if there are still people trying to bail out or if it's become "well, we still need RedHat, so we'll deal with their crap I guess"? Just in general, I wonder what the community's current views are since the noise has died down.
This is not a question as to if I should be using RHEL or a certain distro, but more so the views of RedHat and RHEL now that the dust has settled. I feel that going back, RedHat was viewed in high regard by many users even if they used other distros. Maybe Debian was your thing (like me) but the existence of RedHat as a company gave you the warm and fuzzies that opensource having corporate backing meant that the future was bright. Now it feels uncertain to me. And I suppose this is more of a question for Linux in the corporate world more so than home use.
