(Yeah so maybe this isn't really Linux specific. Still, this is a place where people hang out who might be able to answer).
I remember the times when a web browser (most, if not all of the two or three that existed at the time) changed the mouse cursor to a "busy" icon (hourglass, watch shape, whatever) for while a page was loading, changing it back to regular once the page was fully loaded. Nowadays no browser seems to do that anymore, and it's not so easy to see whether loading is complete — okay, I know you can look for a spinner on the window's titlebar, or something like that, but it's not quite as obvious.
When did that change, and what's the rationale?
