Linus Benedict Torvalds being considered Finnish-American?

I noticed Linus Benedict Torvalds (the creator of linux if you didnt know his full name) is considered to be a Finnish-American on wikipedia?

I can't help but wonder, why? Since both his parents are finnish-swedish, and he lived in finland for most of his life, even going to university there.

Is this just americans wanting credit for something because he moved there later in life for business, or is it something else? Is he actually american by blood somehow?
