Leveraging AI to become a better Cyber Professional

As AI is expected to evolve the nature of the role of people in cybersecurity in the face of rapidly evolving and autonomous software solutions, particularly those charged with carrying out repetitive and time-consuming cybersecurity tasks, I want to understand what familiarity or skillset I need to develop to stay ahead or relevant in the industry?

I have a 15+ years of experiencing in network, infrastructure design, and been working on IoT security for the past 5 years leading and managing GRC policy and enforcement to improve security posture of the org.

In general, I see AI as a positive, and see it automating time consuming and lower-value functions - precisely the area where organizations would rather not have skilled people tied up. For example: 1) Al and ML to support analyzing user behavior patterns 2) automating repetitive tasks 3) being used to monitor network traffic for signs of malware, posture compliance, security policy conformance 4) being used for predicting areas of weakness in the IT estate (also known as testing the fences) as well as automatically detecting and blocking threats

These functions all point to efficiencies over reductions in cybersecurity roles.

1) My main question is, what skills/tools should I become familiar with to adopt AI as a cyber professional at a personal level?

2) Do I need to go back and refresh coding/programming languages?

3) Do I need to know become a data scientist? A whole new field?

4) What level of familiarity do cyber professionals need at the moment to stay relevant and evolve with the adoption of AI?
