I played in early 2000's cluster on linux for ANYTHING, I really mean anything here !
It was build around 4 PCs and threads was migrating from one host to another and so on NATIVELY vrom the openmosix clustering solution only main process was local. And sub-processe was migrating host-to-host in transparency buy a dedicated LAN from a single config file with IP of each nodes.
I m very surprised that all similare grid solution have disapeared.
I fond many HPC or HA cluster but always dedicated to one and only one specialized application not everything.
stupid question is why ? I guess overperformances of each nodes.
the real question is more interesting I hope : Is there still a similar toolset\cluster\gird looking very very very similar than openmosix for modern hardwares and software ?
So I could setup my two machines to be one big time to time when needed. (in fact I quite often get stuck for few minutes with loads very high 25/35 while most of time I keep below 3 or 4.
So it could be a short time solution instead of renting many separated host to online services like AWS ...
to keep my lab more free
