Hi all, I'm positive you all get this all the time - but, I believe that my case might be very specific; please, I need help on deciding on a distro to migrate to as an avid Windows user who doesn't have (but, is learning) much experience with Linux.
Here's my specific case:
- I've been testing ZorinOS to see if it would be worthwhile for me to migrate completely from Windows 11 to Linux (whatever distro is recommended) on my internal 256 GB SSD; I'm currently running Windows 11 as normal on my SSD under Secure Boot while I run ZorinOS on my 1 TB USB flashdrive (a SSD as well) as well under Secure Boot (enabled).
- I plan on possibly migrating fully - not running 2 OSes on my internal SSD - but, running only a preferred Linux distro.
- Originally, I had thought that ZorinOS would be the best option - as they supposedly have created the distro specifically for Windows users; I'm open to other suggestions, however.
- I currently use Windows 11 for work mainly - as I work in marketing, client success management, and client consulting; my apps I use - which I'll need to somehow get working on Linux (except for Microsoft 365 Personal since SoftMaker NX is a viable alternative) - are:
- Microsoft 365 Personal ( which I'll most likely replace with SoftMaker NX - (since Microsoft 365 Personal most likely can't be integrated),
- Microsoft Teams (desktop client),
- Microsoft Outlook (desktop client) or a viable alternative to handle 2 email accounts - personal & business - and to allow for the adding of email signatures with images embedded,
- WeCom,
- WeChat,
- DingTalk,
- Slack,
- WhatsApp,
- Zoom,
- Skype,
- BitWarden,
- PCloud,
- Microsoft OneDrive, and
- Integration of Windows & Android for notification access & usage of specific apps.
- I am willing to add additional repositories, change desktop environments, install VMs, and/or install Android emulators if needed - as long as it improves my workflow.
Considering the above, then: what would be the best distro to consider - and, how would I get what I need installed and smoothly-running?
Thank you very much, everyone.
