How To Turn on Vehicle Motion Cues on iPhone

Apple has released a new Accessibility feature in iOS 18 known as Vehicle Motions Cues, and today, I'm showing you how to enable and use it. Not everyone experiences discomfort while using their phone in a moving vehicle, although prolonged screen time can induce symptoms in many. This innovative tool offers a potential solution. Let's take a look at how to access and enable this feature while explaining how it can be useful for those with motion sickness.



How To Turn on and Use Vehicle Motion Cues





Time needed: 2 minutes. Follow these steps to enable Vehicle Motion Cues: On your iPhone, navigate to Settings. Tap Accessibility. Select Motion. Select Vehicle Motion Cues and ensure the setting is enabled on the next screen. There is also an option in this section to ensure this feature turns on automatically when you are in a vehicle.



That's all there is to it. From here, Vehicle Motion Cues will enable automatically whenever your iPhone detects you're in a moving vehicle.



Add Vehicle Motion Cues to Control Center



You also have the option to add this setting to your Control Center, allowing you to quickly change the settings of this feature as often as you need to. This is also easy to enable.




First, swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center.



Once in Control Center, long-press an empty space and select Add a Control.



Scroll all the way down and select Vehicle Motion Cues from the Vision Accessibility section. You can also search for the feature straight from the search bar at the top.




Following these steps, you can quickly access Vehicle Motion Cues from your Control Center, giving you full and quick access to how and when the features engage. Clicking the icon for this feature within the Control Center will give you the options of On, Off, and Only in Vehicle.



How Do Vehicle Motion Cues Work?



Should you enable the feature, a series of dots will appear on your iPhone screen. As the vehicle turns, the dots will move side to side, or they'll move forward and back when the vehicle changes speed. Following the dots can help decrease motion sickness by linking what a person sees with what they feel. According to Apple, motion sickness can be caused when a person isn't experiencing what they're feeling and what they're sensing at the same time.
