📑 Inhaltsübersicht

Over time, there have been several changes in how an iPad and Apple Pencil can be paired. The first-generation Apple Pencil paired directly to iPads via the Lightning port. The second-generation Apple Pencil introduced wireless pairing. Therefore, it's reasonable to assume that the Apple Pencil 3 will also pair with an iPad in the same way. This is how design progression typically unfolds.

But with Apple's new priority for affordability, the Apple Pencil 3 will not have wireless pairing. Instead, it will be connected to an iPad through USB-C. There's a reason Apple calls it the Apple Pencil USB-C, after all.If you're considering buying an Apple Pencil: - Unsure which iPad it will pair with? - Don't worry, this guide will help you: - Follow easy steps to pair your Apple Pencil with an iPad - Eliminate confusion regarding generation-related compatibility.

Apple Pencil Compatibility

You need to determine which Apple Pencil is compatible with your iPad. This depend on whether the charging port on your iPad is USB-C or Lightning.

IPads which are Apple Pencil 1 compatible:

IPad: - 6th generation - iPad: 7th generation - iPad: 8th generation - iPad: 9th generation - iPad: 10th generation, iPad Mini: - 5th generation, iPad Air: - 3rd generation, iPad Pro: - 9.7 inch: iPad Pro 10.5 inch, iPad Pro 12.9 inch (1st and 2nd generations)

How to Connect Apple Pencil 1

The Apple Pencil 1 connects entirely to your iPad through the Lightning adaptor. This simplifies the connection process.

1 . remove the pen's top lid to expose the lightning connector.

2 . Attach it to the lightning port on your iPad, located at the device's

bottom.

3 . Watch for the iPad to display the Bluetooth pairing prompt.

4 . After selecting "Pair," you're ready to go!

If you have a 10th-generation iPad, you will need an Apple Lighting to USB-C adaptor. Luckily, these adaptors will become unnecessary with the release of the Apple Pencil with USB-C.

How to Pair Apple Pencil 2

Make sure your iPad's Bluetooth is turned on. The Apple Pencil 2 pairs wireless to your iPad in this way.

  1. As you gaze at the screen, place the pen on the right side of your

iPad. The pencil will be attached magnetically.

  2. Wait until your iPad shows your Apple Pencil as a virtual pop-up.

There will be a connection option to link your iPad and Apple Pencil.

3 . After you tap "Connect," you can safely begin writing!

How to Pair Apple Pencil 3

The USB-C port on the new Apple Pencil 3 replaces the Bluetooth pairing feature. This is a step back in terms of pairing. However, the process of pairing remains simple.

  1. Reverse the cap on your Apple Pencil's rubber end. This will make a

    USB-C port visible.

  2. To connect your iPad and Apple Pencil, use a USB-C connector.

  3. Select "Connect" to get started as soon as the pop-up window

    requesting a pairing displays.
