I'm excited to introduce my latest project,
Creatine is one of the most researched supplements in the fitness industry, but knowing how much to take can be confusing. learncreatine.com was created to make it easier for users to calculate their optimal creatine dosage and maintain proper hydration. This tool is especially helpful for those who are looking to build muscle, enhance their athletic performance, or simply better understand how to take creatine safely.
Key Features
Creatine Dosage Calculator
The Creatine Dosage Calculator provides a recommended daily dosage based on your body weight, fitness goals, and experience level. The calculator considers factors like whether you’re in a loading phase or maintenance phase, making it user-friendly for beginners and experienced users alike.Water Intake Calculator for Creatine Users
Proper hydration is crucial when taking creatine, so I included a Water Intake Calculator specifically tailored for creatine users. This tool gives personalized recommendations to help users stay hydrated, which is key for maximizing the effects of creatine.
Technical Stack
This project was built using:
Next.js: I chose Next.js for its excellent performance and SEO capabilities, which are important for user experience and discoverability.
TypeScript: Type safety was essential in building reliable calculators, and TypeScript made it easier to manage types and ensure the code was bug-free.
Tailwind CSS: For styling, I used Tailwind CSS, which allowed for quick prototyping and customization. The utility-first approach made styling both fast and responsive.
Challenges and Lessons Learned
Working on this project presented a few challenges:
Calculator Logic: Ensuring accurate calculations required extensive testing and tweaking. I wanted to make sure the recommendations provided were accurate and safe for users.
Responsive Design: Building a clean and responsive design was key, especially since many users may access the site on mobile devices. Tailwind CSS helped streamline the process, but I still had to adjust certain elements for different screen sizes.
SEO Optimization: Since learncreatine.com aims to reach a broader audience, optimizing for SEO was a priority. Next.js's built-in support made it easier, but it was a learning experience in finding the best ways to structure content for search engines.
