Hi all, I've been looking at ways to improve the security of my OS and intrusion detection/prevention IDS/IPS systems seem to make a fair bit of sense, there also seem to be a few FOSS options e.g. snort and suricata.
Is installing one of these on desktop linux a good idea to improve security or are there issues which mean they are only suitable for servers or otherwise make it a bad idea for desktop linux.
Thanks,
