Bought a Dell Latitude Rugged 5420 for nieces and nephews to share and looking for good parental controls and a solution that can do what Mozilla Prism did.

I’m planning on using Ubuntu 24.04 lts due to the live patching and will be providing them with a copy of Softmaker Office Pro 2024. I’m looking at buying an annual subscription to abc mouse, but would like to lockdown the system to keep it safe for and from the kids - I specifically chose the laptop due to it being Ubuntu certified, but also due to the durability - they’re rough with electronics. I’ve been doing Linux administration for years now, so user account management and limitations are easy, but I’m still wanting additional resources to make sure that they can’t access anything online that they shouldn’t.

Ideally, for the two youngest, I’d like to have an account with no web browser access. Mozilla Prism was an app that allowed you to create “apps” out of websites. If something similar still exists, it’d be a great solution as I could create “apps” for abcmouse, pbs kids and other resources.

For the older, I’ll want more freedom with browser access, but still controls to prevent access to inappropriate sites. I did see that there are some chrome extensions/addons for services to help with this, but I’m wondering how easy they’d be to circumvent?

And then finally, there’ll be an administrator account for the adults with regular access and what not.
