Ubuntu 24.04.01 has yet again stopped using the WiFi after an update. It actually updated things automatically, this despite the fact I always turn this feature off. And so today I get this message out of the blue saying it requires a restart after several hours of good WiFi usage and not only does it on it's first boot present me with a black screen and no login menu resulting in me turning it off and on again via the power button, it's now lost WiFi connection capacity. Using a command I got the same readout as before, it would see the router, noticed it requires a password, says it knows the password but wouldn't connect anyway. Furthermore as before, it popped up a window and it was asking me to put the password in despite the fact it had it stored in it's connection settings. Anyway I'm now downloading 22.04.05 so tomorrow I can install that again. I have upon rebooting back into Ubuntu to copy and past saved files discovered that this function has stopped working properly too. When I right click on a file and left click for the Copy function, I cannot copy it to a Windows 10 partition, yet, if I select the file and drag and drop from one window in Thunar to another, it magically works.
If anyone knows how to report this let me know, I know a lot of people also have had WiFi issues on Ubutnu 24.04 so perhaps if I can I might log a report, I may well join yet another forum to do so. Hopefully this will be resolved by the time 22.04 LTS runs out of support.
