What I want: KDE on a stable, Ubuntu-based distro (I use Bitwig music production software, which recommends it) that I can run until 2029.
I've been running Kubuntu the past few years. In that time I felt that Kubuntu was never as polished as other distros I've used, and then when I upgraded Kubuntu this year, it just made things worse.
I used to use (and love) Linux Mint KDE. When that was killed off, I ran Ubuntu Studio which runs KDE, and despite that being a relatively niche distro, I remember it being less problematic than Kubuntu. I'm even considering it again, except it doesn't have the 5-year LTS support (only supported until 2027).
I know there's KDE Neon, but my impression is that this includes cutting-edge updates of KDE, which strikes me as being more likely to break things and cause the kinds of problems I had upgrading Kubuntu.
I'm thinking maybe I should just run Linux Mint or Ubuntu and install KDE, but I'm not sure how stable / problem-free that approach would be, which is why I'm seeking input here.
