Error with sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 command

Hi everyone i just started using Linux ever since i got fed up by windows errors anyways i was trying to install wine and one of the steps was to enable 32-bit support so i put in the command

sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 

but it asked for my password then procceded to tell me command not found i would apreciate any help you could offer me here since i need wine to run certain windows programs

if i had made any errors please tell me ill be more than thankful and for more info im using Ubuntu 24.04
