Just installed Mint on my main PC so that I no longer have Windows as main driver for 2025. Not my first time using Mint, but with work introducing Windows 11, I really don't want to use it at home. Windows 10 was tolerable, Windows 11 required me to do extra clicks to do the same thing (something that I find annoying).
Only hiccups so far:
Skype install was annoying (needed it since my father still uses it) and had an issue cause my Pihole was blocking access (if you get an error, check your VPN, firewall, or pihole).
Otherwise:
Steam works flawlessly. Notices that games load faster with no more "stall" while loading.
Browers: load faster than in Windows.
Total install: ~1hr including the time to remove the GPU so I can remove the M.2 with Windows installed on it. Keeping it in case I need to reverse and to make sure I don't lose any data.
All that is left is to figure out a good software for photo editing and determining if I will pay for Crossover so I can run Quicken on the main PC.
Cheers and happy new Year!
