Memories are tricky. They’re basic elements of our beings, foundations for our relationships, and one of the main ways we understand the world around us. But almost no one remembers everything, and they don’t represent any objective reality. Every time we remember a past vacation with friends, we’re basically rewriting and re-inventing it, creating something that exists between the real world and our own imagination.

Leila is exploring her past, recalling moments that she believes were formative and considering how each of them shaped her. An afternoon in a room dominated by a mirror that allows her to decide how the world sees her and a computer that’s supposed to be used for homework but is basically a machine for social connections that rarely delivers the desired results. A rainy day in a cafe, working on a book project while juggling feedback from an editor and her own insecurities.
