A vulnerability described as critical has been identified in Linux Kernel up to 6.17.2. This affects the function mt7996_mac_sta_add_links of the component wifi. Such manipulation leads to null pointer dereference.

This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2025-40066. The attack can only be initiated within the local network. No exploit exists.
