So I needed to get traffic from Reddit.
Should be simple, right? Everyone says find relevant posts and be helpful. Except nobody mentions the part where you spend 3 hours a day scrolling and your comments still get buried.
The problem
You search a subreddit. Sort by hot. Find a post that looks relevant.
400 comments.
Your reply goes to the bottom. Nobody sees it.
So you keep scrolling. Eventually find something with 10 comments. But wait - posted 2 weeks ago. OP hasn't replied in days. Dead thread.
Repeat for 2 hours. Find 3-4 posts worth commenting on. Get maybe one response.
Real talk - this was my life for months.
The fix
I started filtering for posts with under 5 comments, posted in the last 24 hours.
Not "hot" posts. Not trending. The quiet ones where the OP is still waiting.
Less engagement = less competition. Your comment actually gets seen.
First time I tried this seriously - boom, 4 DMs in one day.
Tools I tried
Finding these posts manually still sucked. So I tested a bunch of stuff:
Reddit native search → Can't filter by comment count. Useless.
GummySearch → Works but $49/mo. Too expensive for me.
Reddit Toolbox → Free desktop app. Does what I need.
Manual tracking → Works but painful.
I stuck with Reddit Toolbox because:
- Free (big deal right now)
- Scrapes multiple subreddits at once
- Filters by comment count
- Runs on my computer (local IP = no bans)
Not gonna lie, the UI is rough. But it saves me 2+ hours daily so whatever.

My workflow now
# Morning routine (~30 min)
1. Open Reddit Toolbox
2. Scrape r/SaaS, r/Entrepreneur, r/startups + niche subs
3. Filter: comments < 5, age < 24h
4. Review ~15-20 posts
5. Pick 3-5 where I can actually help
6. Write real replies (no templates)
Used to be 3 hours of scroll hell. Now it's just another morning task.
