I’d like to share a personal project I’ve been working on: a LEGO® Website Redesign & Concept, built as a fully interactive, real-time web experience.

This is not a static mockup, screenshot gallery, or Figma prototype.

The project explores what a LEGO-branded website could look like if every visual and structural element were physically “built” from LEGO bricks — directly in the browser.

Project Idea

The core idea behind this project was to treat the website itself as a LEGO construction.

Instead of traditional UI components, the interface is composed from:

image-based HTML elements

background layers

strict spatial constraints inspired by LEGO geometry

Every tile, surface, and UI element follows the same fundamental rule set, creating a consistent, material-driven visual language across the entire experience.

Technical Approach

Rather than relying on a visual editor or pre-rendered assets, the site is driven by a custom JavaScript engine that manages layout, interaction, and composition in real time.

Key characteristics:

UI elements are assembled from image-based HTML elements and backgrounds

All components are aligned to a fixed 26×26 pixel grid, reflecting the underlying LEGO unit system

No static UI screenshots — everything responds dynamically to user interaction

Layout changes happen without full page reloads

This approach allowed me to experiment with how far a brand-specific, material-based UI system can be pushed using standard web technologies.

What’s Included So Far

Fully working live demo (not a mockup)

Editable tiles, stickers, colors, themes, and patterns

Mix of 2D, 3D, and hybrid LEGO elements

Real-time interaction and layout changes

Custom rendering and composition logic in JavaScript

Work in Progress

This is an early version of the project.

I plan to expand it significantly over time, especially by:

introducing more complex LEGO elements composed from image-based HTML elements and backgrounds

preserving and extending the fixed 26×26 pixel grid system

experimenting with new shading techniques

applying performance-oriented masking techniques

exploring additional interaction and layout ideas

The project is intentionally exploratory and iterative rather than a finished product.

Why I Built This

This project is best described as a design + engineering experiment.

The goal wasn’t to propose a production-ready redesign, but to:

explore unconventional UI construction methods

test how strict visual constraints affect flexibility and performance

experiment with brand-driven, material-based web interfaces

Feedback Welcome

I’d genuinely appreciate feedback — especially around:

performance considerations

architectural decisions

UX clarity

scalability of this kind of approach
