Apple TV Adds Richard Gere to “The Off Weeks” Cast

Apple TV continues to strengthen its original slate with another major casting move. Richard Gere has joined the limited series “The Off Weeks,” an eight-episode drama that already stars Jessica Chastain and Ben Stiller. The show adds another veteran name to a project that has quietly built momentum.



According to Deadline, Gere will appear as a character named Jonathan. His addition expands a cast that also includes Arian Moayed and Annaleigh Ashford, both confirmed earlier. Apple TV has not shared a release window or premiere date.



A growing collaboration for Apple TV



“The Off Weeks” marks Apple TV’s third collaboration with Ben Stiller, following “Severance” and “Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost.” The series also reunites the platform with Jessica Chastain after plans for her previous Apple TV project, “The Savant,” ended before release.



Michael Showalter will direct the series. He is best known for his work on “The Dropout,” which earned strong critical attention and helped raise expectations for this project.



In “The Off Weeks,” Stiller plays a writing professor navigating a difficult divorce. He crosses paths with Chastain’s character during this period, setting the stage for a character-driven story. Both Stiller and Chastain also serve as executive producers, signaling close creative involvement.



The supporting cast brings added depth. Arian Moayed is known for his role in “Succession,” while Annaleigh Ashford previously appeared in “American Crime Story.” Their presence rounds out an ensemble aimed at grounded drama rather than spectacle.



Apple TV has confirmed the format and core cast but remains quiet on timing. For now, “The Off Weeks” stands as another example of the platform betting on established talent and intimate storytelling.
