Upcoming Studio Display Release Date Looks Near, Based on a New Report

Apple’s Studio Display refresh looks close. Recent shipping delays, supply shortages, and regulatory sightings all point to a new model arriving soon. While Apple has not confirmed anything, the pattern fits how the company prepares hardware updates. When current stock thins out and delivery dates slip, a replacement usually follows.

According to Mark Gurman, Apple’s entry-level Studio Display has become hard to find both online and in retail stores. New shipments now show delivery windows stretching into late February and early March for some configurations.

“Apple’s entry-level Studio Display is also in short supply, both online and in stores, with new shipments not expected until late February or early March.”

Gurman has also repeated his earlier reporting that Apple plans to launch a refreshed Studio Display in the first half of 2026. Taken together, these delays and timelines suggest Apple is clearing the way for new hardware rather than restocking the current model.

Signs a New Studio Display Is Coming

This is not the only signal. An unreleased Apple external display appeared in regulatory filings last month, a step Apple typically completes shortly before a product launch. The filing referenced a new model number, which many believe belongs to the next Studio Display.

Stock delays add to the picture. When Apple expects to replace a product soon, it often limits new production of the existing version. Customers then see longer wait times, especially for base models.

Rumored Features and Expected Changes

Several reports point to meaningful upgrades for the new Studio Display. These changes would bring it closer to Apple’s Pro lineup while keeping it aimed at Mac users who want a high-end external display.

A 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate

HDR support with a brighter panel

Mini-LED backlighting

An internal A19 or similar chip for better performance

Improved camera and speakers

A possible height-adjustable stand

Apple has not confirmed pricing or final specifications. Still, all signs suggest the Studio Display refresh will land in early 2026, with shipping delays serving as the clearest hint yet.
