My own attempt at a new file-sharing software with end to end encryption.

Hey guys. this is my first ever post or really advertisement for a software I made but I really believe that this software could be useful for someone out there, as well as me needing users that are not just me and close friends to see how this software reacts on a bunch of different systems.

I had many firsts when it came to this project like first app on Linux, first app made with c++ so I could definitely use some feed back there, and first time actually posting an app I made to attempt to reach an actual audience.

So I made a separate server application that only works on linux due to me using the linux api for network sockets, but I don't think it should be much of an issue for my this subreddit. I added on the github page all the different launch options for customization, it's very lightweight on RAM depending on how much you decide to give it in terms of buffer size for file transfer but honestly you can get away with a tiny number and you should still be fine, it's honestly there to optimize the speed by a few percent anyways.

The way the app works is that you connect to the server and it gives you an id number, the other user will also have a unique one, all you have to do is at the top left type in their id and it will send them a request to form a pair. Once paired you can then send messages files, or folders to each other. Encryption is a toggle because it from what I've seen limits the speed from 1.8 GB/s (on localhost) down to 60 or MB/s, and I did not take any short cuts when it came to encryption. If there are any security experts out there I would love to get some feed back on how I did, and I will be honest the entire encryption header file was written by chatgpt, but I made sure to do enough testing to know that, for a 3rd party to decipher your file it will take them a ton of time and effort, as well as needing to know what key you used, but even with that they will still struggle a ton.

Last thing, for those who aren't limited to an upload speed of 40Mb/s like I am, please let me know your transfer speeds when transferring a file to to someone outside of your LAN network, I've still yet to see how fast that could be and I guess this is the best chance I have at it.
