I got a new computer back in June. It's been working well, but I didn't enjoy the look or feel of Windows 11 at all. I used multiple programs to try and debloat the software and change the look to Windows 7. That worked, but my computer was very sluggish and memory would reach extreme highs doing the most basic of tasks, like using the internet. Keep in mind I have a gaming laptop that has very high specs. I decided to overlook it, but due to these downsides, I began debating whether or not I should move to Linux. However, I didn't for a long time because I'm used to Windows, and I didn't want to hassle with emulators and what not for video games and applications that I already use.
That all changed today though. Recently, my computer has been crashing frequently. And it is something that again, has been happening when I do things that are not at all resource intensive. I tried overlooking it, but today my computer crashed 3 times in a row, with me being able to only use it for about 5 minutes between each crash. That sent me over the edge, I just couldn't take it anymore. I finally decided to install Ubuntu, and leave Windows for good.
I've been on Ubuntu for a few hours now, and I quite like it. After getting used to my new surroundings and moving over my files, I appreciate it. I have noticed that it uses nowhere near as much memory as Windows used, meaning that my laptop is also just quieter when running in general.
So, that little story was why I finally decided to leave Windows for Linux after multiple years. I would like to hear from other people. Why did you all decide to use Linux?
