Why is Openbox still such a popular window manager? If one checks its development on GitHub, there hasn’t been any activity in years. Mind you, I do use Openbox daily and like it, I just worry that it will eventually become irrelevant once Wayland becomes a true replacement for X. There don’t seem to be any indications that anyone will take over Openbox development or create a fork to implement Wayland support. Are there any other window managers (stacking or tiling) that currently support Wayland?
