The Problem

As a developer who spends time in both the digital and physical worlds, I kept running into the same frustrating scenario:

In the kitchen: Converting cups to milliliters while following a recipe

In the workshop: Converting mm to inches for a woodworking project

At the desk: Converting Fahrenheit to Celsius for international documentation

Sure, there are apps and websites that do conversions, but I wanted something physical – a chart I could print and stick to my wall, tape to my toolbox, or keep in my notebook. Something that doesn't require unlocking my phone, opening an app, and typing in numbers.

The Solution: ChartsPrintables.com

So I built ChartsPrintables – a collection of 60+ free printable conversion charts covering:

Why It's Different

I hate it when websites force you to create an account just to download a simple PDF. On ChartsPrintables, you can browse, customize, and download without ever entering your email.

Each chart can be customized before downloading:

The site works great on mobile, so you can quickly look up a conversion when you're in the middle of a project.

🖨️ Print-Ready

Every chart is designed to look great when printed – clean, readable, and properly formatted.

The Tech Stack

For the curious developers:

Frontend: Next.js 14 with App Router

Styling: Tailwind CSS

Charts: Custom React components with SVG rendering

Export: html2canvas + jsPDF for PDF generation

Hosting: Vercel

Payments: Creem (for the PRO features)

The most interesting technical challenge was generating print-perfect PDFs from React components. I experimented with several approaches before settling on a client-side rendering solution that produces crisp, vector-quality charts.

I also built a Chrome Extension that gives you instant access to the charts without opening a new tab. Just click the icon and search for any conversion.
