Casely Reissues Major Power Bank Recall After Tragic Fatal Incidents

Accessory maker Casely is sending out an urgent second warning about its wireless portable chargers. It just reissued a massive recall covering more than 429,000 Power Pods due to major fire risks. This new alert comes after the lithium-ion batteries inside these devices continued to overheat and catch fire.



The dangerous defect has already led to several terrifying accidents, including a mid-flight explosion and a tragic death.



Fresh reports of overheating cause a second major safety warning



Casely first recalled its 5,000 mAh Power Pods in April 2025. Since then, the company received 28 new reports of the batteries overheating or bursting into flames. One horrifying incident involved a 75-year-old woman in New Jersey. Her power bank caught fire on her lap, and she sadly passed away from severe burn complications.



Another scary situation happened on an airplane. A 47-year-old woman was charging her phone mid-flight when the battery exploded, leaving her with painful burns.

You need to act fast if you own one of these chargers. The recall targets the Power Pods model E33A. You can find this number printed on the back of the device. It sold these chargers online between March 2022 and September 2024. If you have this exact model, you must stop using it immediately. Do not try to charge your phone with it one more time.



Follow these steps to claim your free replacement power bank



Casely will replace your faulty charger for free. To get a new unit, visit its recall website and fill out a quick form. You must provide two specific photos. First, use a permanent marker to write "Recalled" and the date on the front of the device, then take a picture. Next, snap a photo of the back showing the model number.



After uploading these images, you must throw away the dangerous battery properly. Never toss it in regular trash or recycling bins. Take it to a local hazardous waste center to prevent accidental fires.
